Is your computer set-up
correctly to use the Internet?

If you're going to spend any time on the Web, Make sure you have the proper settings for your machine.

These aren't secrets--(but don't feel bad if you don't know this.)

Most of the web pages you see with an outdated browser or a poor display will not look as they are supposed look! On a browser as little as a year old you may be missing important parts of a WebPage.

Designers aren't trying to drum up business for these software companies...these companies provide you with the tools (in most cases for free) to see our work as it is meant to be seen. It is up to you to use them correctly.

Even if you don't care about web designers (why should you?) don't you really want to see all that's out there?

What are you seeing on the WWW?      Who knows!?  You may be missing:

  • Frames
  • Animated .gif images
  • Java applets
  • Special typefaces
  • Background sound
  • Video images
  • Tables
  • Columns

Besides a current browser, take a look at your display settings.

  • arrow.jpg (708 bytes)Do you have the proper video display?   WebSites are optimized for "True Color" (16 bit) for greater resolution.

arrow.jpg (708 bytes)If you can't get the width of an entire WebPage on your screen, try setting your desktop area to 800 by 600 pixels.  Both settings are very easy to change in Windows 95/98.  (Go to "Display Properties" in "Control Panel"  and click the tab "Settings").

Above all, keep your browser current.  After all,
browsers are FREE!
